TCTU SPONSOR
President's Corner 1/9/2007

Thank you to my TU predecessors, the TCTU Board and the many other dedicated and hard working VOLUNTEERS. Each and every one of you that have contributed time, money and support to conserve, protect and restore our cold water fisheries. It is my goal to continue this passion of commitment to our trout streams. As issues within our state develop need your help now more than ever.

The Twin Cities Chapter has about 1,800 members and has seen dramatic growth in the past few years. I would like to build on the momentum created by the previous administrations, to get more people involved in this fantastic organization. Each of you can bring skills of value to help the chapter and all we do to protect our rivers and streams. To get involved you can check out our website: www.twincitiestu.org.

Join us at the chapter meetings and the annual banquet. There are some very good habitat improvement projects proposed in 2007 (many of these are less than 1 hour from the Twin Cities and we carpool to these work days). I’m hoping that if we give you enough notice, you’ll put these project days on your calendar. Help us “fix” some of our favorite fishing holes. The more stream miles we fix the more streams there will be for you to fish. There are some hidden gems not far from the Twin Cities, but they need your help.

The TCTU annual fundraising banquet is on March 24th, 2007 at the Airport Hilton in Bloomington. This banquet is our ‘Premier Event’ of the year. Proceeds go to fund all of our activities including habitat improvement. There will be raffles, give-a-ways, silent auctions and live-auctions. Each year we try to make it our biggest and best ever and this year is no exception. All we need to reach this goal Is You!

The silent auction will features fantastic fishing gear, wildlife art, fine jewelry, bed and breakfast get-a-ways and more. Famous rod-maker, Dave Norling, has graciously donated another bamboo rod for our raffle. The live auction is packed with guided fishing trips from all over the country. Our new and improved check-out system will also get you out the door faster. If you’ve never attended it’s a great way to meet your fellow anglers have a nice dinner and treat yourself to some incredible items.

We also welcome donations of goods and services from you or your company/employer. Donations to Twin Cities Trout Unlimited are also tax deductible!

Support your LOCAL FLY SHOPS! They support us.

I hope to see you at the next Chapter meeting at the Lodge Bar in Minneapolis or at the annual fundraising banquet in March.
