by Bob Luck Tuesday, February 28 will be a day that changes the course of the Kinnickinnic River. I am not talking about a flood, thank goodness! The River Falls City Council will meet with the US Army Corps of Engineers to sign a contract for a feasibility study that could unlock up to $10 million in federal funding to remove the two dams in River Falls and restore the river corridor to a free flowing trout stream. This is a big step on our way to completely freeing the Kinni--as much as 10 years earlier than our initial projection of 2040. If you have cabin fever from the recent snowstorm and would like to attend the City Council meeting to witness the historic event in person, please do! The meeting will take place at 6:30 pm at the River Falls City office at 222 Lewis St, River Falls, WI 54022. Please arrive a few minutes early to get a good seat. You can also attend remotely via this YouTube Link
Donations by TCTU members have provided critical seed money to get the COE feasibility study going. We have a bit more money to raise to support the feasibility study and we hope to finish by the time the Spring Caddis hatch starts! You can help by:
