Every summer, Trout Unlimited conducts a Teen Summit and Leadership Conference for teen leaders for the purpose of exchanging ideas, learning about conservation and leadership, and shaping the continually evolving TU Teen program. This is an application/interview program with only 25 teens accepted from applicants across the country each year.
In 2022, the TCTU Board decided to offer a scholarship to the 2023 Trout Unlimited Teen Summit and Leadership Conference in support of TCTU’s Youth Education. The 2023 program will be held at Georgetown Lake (Phillipsburg) MT from June 28th to July 2nd.  Attendees will learn how to become a TU leader in their community, how to build team and leadership skills, participate in restoring habitat on a service project, and of course, fly fishing some of Montana’s great fisheries. Following the Summit experience, the attendees form TU’s Youth Leadership Council for the following year.

TCTU is happy to announce that one of our area teens, Mathias Westermeyer, has been accepted and awarded the TCTU Scholarship for the 2023 Teen Summit.  Mathias is sixteen and will be a Junior at St. Michael/Albertville High School next school year. Mathias is active in Tennis and Swimming as well as volunteering at Church and with MN Pheasants Forever. He has a strong interest in Conservation efforts. He was introduced to fly fishing through TUNE Camp, which he has attending for the past 5 sessions, the most recent 2 years as Youth Guide volunteer. Mathias is also interested in learning more about tying flies and hoping to get his is own equipment to tie at home. He is excited about learning more about conservation through TU Teen Summit, and of course, more about fly fishing.
